View Menu Lets start the customization process with the most visible layer of your computer's interface how files and folders look on the screen. The View menu allows you to control how files and folders are listed in the windows on your monitor. We almost always View by Name. This produces a nice hierarchical and alphabetical list of folders and files and programs. It also allows for rapid browsing of sub-folders by just clicking on that nifty little arrow to the left of a folder name.
Unfortunately, the MacOS comes with the default view set to View by Icon. We know very few folks who keep this setting. It takes up too much screen space and looks cluttered with more than about a dozen items in a folder. Therefore, you will often be forced to reset the View for new folders and new floppy disks. |
